Private Nubian Museum Tour in Aswan with Egyptologist
The Nubian Museum is where Aswan's story is told in full: the people of Nubia, who lived along the Nile south of the first cataract for thousands of years, and the monuments saved when the High Dam flooded their homeland. This short private tour is a calm, air-conditioned break from the heat and the crowds.
Your Egyptologist guide leads you through the Nubian Museum, which was built with UNESCO's support to house objects rescued during the dam's construction. The galleries run from prehistory through the pharaonic, Coptic and Islamic periods to Nubian life today, with statues, tools, jewelry and models.
Outside, the garden is laid out in the style of a traditional Nubian village, and its paths are a pleasant place to walk once you have finished indoors.
The visit suits history lovers, families and anyone who wants to understand the people behind Aswan before or after seeing its temples. It involves only gentle walking, so it works well for older travelers and for the hottest part of the day.

Nubian Museum galleries and gardens
Your Egyptologist guide meets you at your Aswan hotel or Nile cruise boat, and your private air-conditioned vehicle takes you to the Nubian Museum a short drive away.
Start with the early galleries, where tools and rock art show the first people along this stretch of the Nile. Move on through the rooms of pharaonic statues and reliefs, and the displays on the Kingdom of Kush, the Coptic and Islamic periods, and Nubian crafts and village life. Your guide explains how the pieces were saved when the High Dam was built and why Nubia mattered to ancient Egypt. Allow about an hour and a half indoors.
Afterward you stroll through the museum garden, designed to resemble a Nubian village, and take photos. Then you are driven back to your hotel or cruise boat.

Questions
Who were the Nubians?
Nubians are the people of the Nile valley south of Aswan, with a culture that goes back thousands of years. Their homeland was largely flooded when Lake Nasser formed. The museum keeps their history and traditions alive.
How long should I plan for the museum?
With your guide, about an hour and a half is enough for the main galleries, plus time in the garden. Counting the hotel transfers, the whole tour takes two to three hours.
Is this a good tour for hot days?
Yes. Most of the visit takes place indoors, away from the sun, so it is a comfortable choice in summer or at midday. You still need light shoes and water for the garden.
Can I add other sights to the same day?
Yes. The museum pairs well with a visit to the Philae Temple or the Kalabsha Temple. Tell us what you want to see and we will plan a day that fits your time.
