Half-Day Tour to the Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx
If you have only a morning or an afternoon free in Cairo, this half-day private tour is the quickest way to see the Giza plateau properly. In a few hours you stand beneath the only one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world that is still standing, and meet the Sphinx face to face.
Your Egyptologist guide takes you to the three great pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, built about 4,500 years ago, then to the Valley Temple and the Great Sphinx. Along the way the guide explains how the monuments were built, who they were built for and how they belong together as one royal burial landscape.
A stop at the panoramic viewpoint lets you photograph all three pyramids in a single frame. Because the vehicle is private, you can start early to avoid the midday heat, or choose an afternoon departure for softer light.
The tour suits first-time visitors, travelers with a short stopover, families, and anyone who wants one clear highlight in a busy Cairo stay. Going inside a pyramid is optional and needs an extra ticket, which we can arrange on request.

Giza Pyramids, Valley Temple, panoramic viewpoint and the Great Sphinx
Your guide meets you at your hotel in Cairo or Giza and drives you to the Giza plateau in a private air-conditioned vehicle, with a short briefing on the way.
Start with the three great pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure. Your guide explains who built each one and how, and you have time to walk along the base of the Great Pyramid and take photos; allow about an hour and a half. Then continue to the Valley Temple beside the Sphinx, a massive building of limestone and granite linked to the pyramid of Khafre.
Stand in front of the Great Sphinx for about 30 minutes, then stop at the panoramic viewpoint, where all the pyramids appear together. Your guide then drives you back to your hotel.

Questions
How much time do we spend at the pyramids?
Most of the tour is on the plateau itself: about an hour and a half at the pyramids, around 30 minutes at the Sphinx and a short photo stop at the viewpoint. With hotel transfers the whole trip takes four to five hours, depending on Cairo traffic.
Is it too hot to visit in summer?
The plateau is open desert with very little shade. In summer we suggest the earliest possible start, with a hat, sunscreen and plenty of water. In winter the daytime is comfortable, but bring a light layer for the early morning.
Can we go inside a pyramid?
Yes, but it needs a separate ticket that is not part of this price. The passage inside is low, steep and narrow, so it is not ideal if you dislike enclosed spaces. Ask us in advance and we will arrange the ticket.
Does the tour include the Grand Egyptian Museum?
No. This half-day tour covers the Giza plateau and the Sphinx only. If you would also like a museum visit, tell us when you book and we will suggest how to combine it with another tour.
What should I wear?
Wear light, comfortable clothing and closed shoes, since the ground is sandy and uneven. Bring sunglasses, a hat and a small bag. Large backpacks are not needed, as your driver stays with the vehicle.
