Cairo Day Trip from Luxor by Flight: Pyramids and Museum
Upper Egypt's temples and Lower Egypt's pyramids are normally a long journey apart. This private day trip joins them: a short morning flight from Luxor takes you to Cairo, where you see the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, visit the Grand Egyptian Museum and fly back the same evening.
At Giza your guide takes you to the three great pyramids, built for the pharaohs Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, and to the Great Sphinx and its Valley Temple. The scale of the monuments is hard to take in from photographs, so time at the foot of the pyramids is the heart of the day.
After a local lunch you continue to the Grand Egyptian Museum, which stands near the pyramids at Giza. It holds the full Tutankhamun collection, and its Grand Staircase is lined with royal statues. Your guide helps you choose what to see among thousands of objects.
It is a long, full day with two flights, a lot of driving in Cairo and plenty of walking, so it suits energetic travelers who are short on time. The flights are not in the tour price; we can book them for you at the current fare. A private vehicle and guide meet you at each stage, so the transfers are smooth.

Flight to Cairo, Giza Pyramids, Sphinx, Grand Egyptian Museum and flight back to Luxor
You are collected from your Luxor hotel and taken to the airport for the short flight to Cairo. Your private Egyptologist guide meets you on arrival and drives you to the Giza Plateau.
You spend the morning at the Pyramids of Giza, seeing the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure up close, then the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple beside it. There is time for photos and for your guide to explain how and why the monuments were built.
A late lunch at a local restaurant follows. In the afternoon you visit the Grand Egyptian Museum, close to the pyramids, with your guide leading you to the Tutankhamun collection and up the Grand Staircase lined with royal statues.
Late in the day you head back to the airport in Cairo, fly home to Luxor, and a driver takes you on to your hotel.

Questions
Do I need my passport for the flights?
Yes. Bring your passport or the ID document used to book the flights, since you pass airport checks in both cities. The flights are not in the tour price; we can book them for you at the current fare and send you the final details before your trip.
Can we go inside a pyramid?
Entry inside a pyramid needs a separate ticket, and the number is limited each day. It is not part of the standard price, but ask us when booking and we will check availability.
Is the day too rushed?
It is a long day, and the schedule is tight because of the flights. The visits are planned so you see the key sights without hurrying, but if you want a slower pace, ask about adding a night in Cairo.
How long do we have at the pyramids?
Roughly two to three hours at Giza, including the viewpoints, the Sphinx and the Valley Temple. That gives enough time for photos and a good explanation from your guide without too much rushing.
What should I wear?
Comfortable shoes and light clothing. Giza is open desert with little shade, so bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. In winter, add a warm layer for the early flight and the evening.
