Aswan and Cairo sit at opposite ends of Egypt, but a short flight puts the capital's greatest sights within a single day. This private tour takes you from your Aswan hotel to the pyramids and back to your bed the same night, for travelers who cannot spare extra days.

In Cairo your Egyptologist guide takes you to the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, then to the Grand Egyptian Museum, which stands near the pyramids and holds the full Tutankhamun collection. After that come Coptic Cairo, the old Christian quarter, where a church stands above a Roman gateway beside a historic synagogue, and finally the lively Khan El Khalili bazaar. Lunch is at a local restaurant, so you can rest between the sights and enjoy local flavors.

The day is long and starts very early, but your private vehicle and guide keep the pace smooth, and flying saves many hours on the road. The domestic flights are not in the tour price: we can book them for you at the current fare, and the airport transfers at both ends are part of the tour. You need your passport for the flights, so keep it with you.

The tour suits travelers on a short Egypt itinerary, Nile cruise guests who want the pyramids without moving hotels, and anyone happy to trade rest for a very full day.

Your itinerary

  1. 01

Flight to Cairo, Giza Pyramids, Grand Egyptian Museum, Coptic Cairo and Khan El Khalili

Your driver collects you from your Aswan hotel in the very early morning for the airport and your flight to Cairo. In Cairo your guide and private vehicle meet you on arrival.

Drive straight to the Giza plateau for the Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure and the Great Sphinx, where you spend roughly two hours. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit the Grand Egyptian Museum, close to the pyramids. It holds the full Tutankhamun collection, and the Grand Staircase is lined with royal statues; your guide picks the highlights to suit the time you have.

Next comes Coptic Cairo, the old Christian quarter, with the Ben Ezra Synagogue and the Hanging Church. The day ends in the Khan El Khalili bazaar, a market of narrow lanes with shops selling crafts, spices and souvenirs. In the evening you are driven to the airport for the flight back to Aswan and your hotel.

Questions

Do I need my passport?

Yes. Bring your passport for the domestic flights between Aswan and Cairo, and keep it in your day bag. The flights are not in the tour price; we can book them for you at the current fare.

How early does the day start?

The day starts in the very early morning so that you arrive in Cairo with a full day ahead, and you return to Aswan in the evening. We confirm the flight times and your pick-up when you book, as they depend on the airline schedule.

Is this too much for one day?

It is a full day with a lot of travel. If you prefer a calmer pace, we can suggest an overnight stay in Cairo or a shorter list of stops. Your guide adapts the plan to your energy and the traffic.

Can I go inside a pyramid?

Going inside a pyramid needs a separate ticket and takes extra time, so it is not part of the standard plan. If it matters to you, tell us before the trip and we will see whether it fits the day.

What should I wear?

Wear light, comfortable clothes and walking shoes, and carry a hat and sunscreen for the pyramids. Bring a light layer for the early morning and the flight, and dress modestly for the churches and the bazaar.
